We have an exciting opportunity to join the Category Team at Greggs. Reporting into the Category Planning Manager this role will be key support to a busy and dynamic team, who create the future menu proposition driven by customer insight and trends.

This is a full time role with option for hybrid working.

About the role

  • This is a full-time role (35 hours per week) however flexibility in this will be considered
  • We know that having a work-life balance is important, so we offer our colleagues as much flexibility as possible in line with the needs of their role
  • The base location for this role is Newcastle upon Tyne 

What you'll do

As a Category Planner you’ll:

  • Work in the team that leads the menu development for Greggs
  • Supporting Category Planning Mangers with the collection, collation and provision of information including weekly financial reports 
  • Supports Category Planning Scheduling 
  • Carrying out all the necessary administration tasks to support the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) 
  • Supporting post implementation reviews of launches and trials
  • Acting as first point of contact for general product related queries and redirecting as appropriate

Skills

Essential:

  • Confident personality and excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Strong ability to understand numerical reports and ability to use Excel confidently
  • An ability to understand and analyse complex data with high levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to create Powerpoint presentations 
  • Strong administrative, planning and organisational skills with diary management 
  • Confident personality and excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Results focused, energetic outlook with a desire to work in a frequently changing environment
  • Thinking and problem solving skills 
  • An ability to multi task and manage priorities and deadlines 
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work cross-functionally as this role requires liaison with all departments and frequent multiple team work
  • You are a strong team player, able to build good working relationships at all levels
  • A proven ability to provide excellence in customer service

Desirable 

  • Food experience; product and retail environment 
  • Category/ Retail Support knowledge 
  • Merchandising knowledge 
  • Ability to deliver presentations to others 
  • IT skills including Microsoft 365; SharePoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
  • Driving licence as some travel and overnight stays may be required 
  • Previous experience of Power BI or creating reports using other reporting systems
