We have a fantastic opportunity to join the team here at Greggs as a Business Intelligence Analyst. 

Greggs has enjoyed tremendous success in recent years and has ambitious plans for the future working towards becoming the customer’s favourite for food-on-the-go. In the next 5 years, the strategy is aiming to double sales and increase stores to over 3000.  

The strategy has stated 4 drivers for growth – to grow the Greggs estate; to extend trade into the evening; to develop digital channels to offer greater convenience for our customers; to broaden customer appeal and drive loyalty. Underpinning this is an intent to invest in the integrated supply chain and technology ready for a bigger business. 

We are a team of bright, creative, talented people who are looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst to join our team.  If you are analytically minded, aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo and love all things data then you could be who we are looking for.  The BI Analyst role is business-focussed so you will not only get to work on the cutting edge of technology in our Azure and Power BI stack but you will get to know and understand Greggs ‘under the covers’

About the role

  • This is a full-time role, however flexibility in this will be considered

  • The base location for this role is Newcastle Upon Tyne NE12 8EW. Ideally, you’ll live within one hour travel of this area

What you'll do

What you'll do 

Reporting to the BI Manager the role will be responsible for delivering and supporting insights from the Power BI toolset, championing the BI strategy throughout Greggs and striving for a quality service delivery.  

  • Working closely with the business, analysing the business insights needs, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI 

  • Keeping abreast of insight trends in our market, future BI trends and technology changes (such as Power BI roadmaps) 

  • Translating business requirements to technical designs including data modelling solutions, working closely with the Senior BI Analysts, data platform engineers, testers 

  • Working with the testing team to manage the processes around System Integration testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and fixing any defects identified 

  • Publishing reports via the Power BI service, managing them through distribution of apps and monitoring usage / data refreshes / security access

Essential Skills: 

  • Strong understanding of BI concepts and tools 

  • Ability to take business customer requirements, understand them and turn them into a powerful story told through engaging visuals in Power BI 

  • Skilled in Power BI and / or Fabric 

  • Experience of designing conceptual and logical data models 

  • SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL) 

  • Confident communicating with stakeholders of all levels around the business 

  • Experience of working in dynamic business environments, and managing delivery of multiple initiatives 

  • The ability to self-start with a proactive approach to daily tasks, overcoming problems and maintaining momentum 

  • Some basic experience of Azure Active Directory (Microsoft Entra) would be beneficial
